$3.2 billion Las Vegas Sphere eyed to host Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano much-anticipated rematch

Katie Taylor might soon be gearing up for a rematch with her old foe, Amanda Serrano . Often considered the face of Irish women’s pro boxing, she first faced 7-division belt holder Serrano on 30 April 2022. Now, reports suggest the rematch might happen at the spectacular Las Vegas Sphere.

The first boxing bout at MSG saw Taylor retain her undisputed titles via split decision. The Ring Magazine and Sports Illustrated named it Event and Fight of the Year. Along with Matchroom Boxing‘s promoter, Eddie Hearn, fellow Irishman Conor McGregor played a big part in promoting Taylor as a patron. McGregor has previously supported her in both her title fights against Chantelle Cameron.

He even offered up the famed Dublin Croke Park as an Irish cultural resonance as a trilogy spot for two-division champ Katie Taylor’s lightweight title defense. Consequently, ever since, Hearn has also pushed for a Serrano rematch on home soil. At 46-2-1, and with multiple titles to her credit, Amanda Serrano is signed to Jake Paul‘s Most Valuable Promotions.

Speaking with Vincent Whelan of the Irish Sun, Hearn prompted that a rematch might be in the works. But Paul dubbed it down in light of her facing Nina Meinke for her 126-pound titles for DAZN. Paul later refunded $1.5 million in revenue after Serrano could not make that fight. Now, the path is clear for the duo to face off at the $3.2 billion Las Vegas marvel once again, which is sure to get fight fans buzzing.

Will Amanda Serrano accept to rematch Katie Taylor at Las Vegas Sphere?

Katie Taylor’s rematch in Dublin against Amanda Serrano is shelved for now. Her last two scraps took place at the 3Arena in Dublin against Chantelle Cameron. However, Michael Benson (@MichaelBensonn), the boxing editor for talkSport.com, reposted snippets that a rematch is in the works for the Las Vags Sphere between Serrano and Taylor.

A May 25 date was set up for a trilogy against Cameron; a Croke Park confirmation seems far off for now. Matchroom Boxing chief Hearn hasn’t confirmed anything yet. But he has nudged that while Cameron and Alycia Baumgardner are possible options, even Serrano might be up for it too.

After her loss to Taylor, Serrano defeated Sarah Mahfoud to win the WBO, WBC, IBF, and IBO world featherweight straps. Soon, she acquired the WBA title after defeating Erika Cruz Hernandez. Her last bout was scrapped due to optical lead poisoning. So, with no more billing, she might just be up for the challenge.

The venue in Paradise, east of the Las Vegas Strip, belongs to the Madison Square Garden Company as well. It is famous among MMA enthusiasts, with many prize fighters demanding scraps on the spot. UFC announced that ESPN MMA (@espnmma) would make an MMA coverage stream exclusive documentary on the venue. Only time will what exactly the future holds for Serrano and Taylor.
