3 Reasons Why Canelo Alvarez Needs A Convincing Win
Eyepix

You might be asking why Canelo Alvarez (60-2-2) needs a convincing win on Saturday. He’s got everything he wanted in a career: Multiple boxing championships, legendary fights, and convincing victories over other boxing legends. Yet, one might ask:

“Why does Canelo need to win convincingly on Saturday?”

Well, dear reader, let’s look into these reasons. Some might say the Mexican legend has gotten by in the past few fights. Therefore, he must find a way to win in a dominating fashion. Here are three reasons why Alvarez needs an overwhelming victory during the weekend.

Canelo Alvarez Must Know He’s A Dominating Force

Canelo Alvarez hasn’t knocked out an opponent since November 6, 2021. That’s when he disposed of Caleb Plant, knocking him down twice in the 11th round. The Mexican boxing legend can restore his confidence and punish Munguia at every turn.

A convincing win via knockout can do that for Alvarez. Granted, it won’t be easy since Munguia is extremely durable. However, the Mexican underdog has been known to eat many punches in a fight, which can be advantageous for the undisputed super middleweight champion.

Beating Jaime Munguia Early Is Possible

As mentioned earlier, Jaime Munguia eats plenty of jabs and uppercuts during his fights. Often, the Mexican underdog leaves his guard down, letting his opponents punish him. Munguia can also be pushed away from the middle of the ring, leaving him in danger of being pummeled.

For Canelo Alvarez, that is his calling card. It’s also the pathway to getting an early knockout. If the undisputed super middleweight champion controls the middle of the ring, he can get back to basics. That would be bad news for the rest of the boxing world.

It’s Another Step Towards Greatness

When Muhammad Ali fought George Foreman in “The Rumble in the Jungle,” people wondered if Ali could take down “Big George.” The Texas native was an imposing figure throughout the WBC’s golden era, dominating his opponents. Then, Ali took care of Foreman with an eighth-round knockout.

Alvarez needs such a resounding victory for his legacy. Taking down a durable Munguia via knockout will do wonders for the undisputed super middleweight champion. Ali’s big victory over Foreman catapulted his career to astronomical levels, and an Alvarez victory should do the same.
