Boxer Daniel Jacobs Beats Cancer, Returns To The Ring

At 24 yrs, Daniel Jacobs, an American medium weight boxer experienced some pains in his leg, prompting him to seek medical attention. Unfortunately his doctor discovered he had a rare form of bone cancer that threatened to confine him on a wheel chair in May 2011.

He started treatment which included a major surgery to remove the cancerous tumours, with the recovery journey taking him nearly two years.

“His ability to walk normally is in doubt including getting back to his life's desire of being a boxer,” said the doctor's report. He was in rehabilitation for 6 months after diagnosis and afterwards bounced back to the ring in Brooklyn to face his opponent Jush Luteran in 2012. Jacobs ( 37-4) ended the fight with a knock out win.

“Fighting cancer taught me more than I could have ever imagined, but I've beaten it,” said Jacobs in Media statements.

Danny has had a total of 41 fights with the last being in London on February 2022 where he lost the fight to his opponent John Ryder. He has previously lost 3 more fights including one against Canelo Alvarez.

Miracle man is a two time middle weight world champion and he held the IBF title from 2018 t0 2019. As of September 2021 he was ranked as the worlds 8th best active super middle weight.

He is also known for his exceptional punching power with an 82.8 % knock out ratio, all around fighter with good movement and hand speed.

His last fight was in 2022, currently he does not have any fight scheduled but future prospects include Billy Joe Sanders and David Lemieux.
