Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn gave an update about the trilogy bout between Katie Taylor and Chantelle Cameron. Taylor and Cameron have met twice inside the ring throughout their professional careers. Taylor had moved up to super lightweight to take on Cameron, which resulted in her first loss. The two female boxers again duked it out inside the ring in November.

Katie Taylor got her redemption via a majority decision victory. After the fight, Taylor became an undisputed two-weight world champion, holding the lightweight and super-lightweight WBA, WBO, WBC, and IBF titles. Furthermore, after the two exciting fights, fighters and fans crave a trilogy match. This is what Hearn said:

Chantelle Cameron, I think, is the fight Katie would like. I think it’s the fight fans would like. Eddie Hearn via The MMA Hour

Hearn stated that the fight between Cameron and Taylor would be the most preferred since it’d be a tiebreaker for their previous fights. In addition, after her victory, Taylor requested a trilogy clash at the iconic Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland, to settle the rivalry once and for all.

Furthermore, Hearn mentioned that he is talking with Croke Park to conduct Taylor’s next fight. With Taylor in her late thirties, her next couple of fights could become her last in the sport.

Katie Taylor vacates her IBF and WBO lightweight title

Before fighting Cameron, Taylor had won and defended the women’s WBA, women’s WBC, women’s IBF, women’s WBO, and women’s The Ring lightweight titles. Subsequently, with her victory over Cameron, she became a two-time two-division champion. However, Taylor has recently vacated the IBF and WBO lightweight championships.

As a result, the IBF has mandated that the English boxer Caroline Dubois take on Rhiannon Dixon for the vacant IBF lightweight title. The IBF has announced that the negotiation period for the bout between Dubois and Dixon will run until January 20th, 2024. The date and location of the title fight will be confirmed at a later date.

Furthermore, Dubois is unbeaten in her professional boxing career with an undefeated 8-0 record (5 KO). She came close to a gold medal in the women’s lightweight division at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and has declared her ambition to be a multi-division champion.
