The Big Winner From the Garcia-Haney Fight? Gervonta Davis
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Gervonta Davis (29-0) was the biggest winner of the Ryan Garcia-Devin Haney fight. The lone victor over Garcia saw his stock skyrocket after the fight, proving he’s one of the best boxers in the business.

After Garcia defeated Haney via majority decision in Saturday’s fight, “Tank” gained plenty of attention from fans. How would the San Francisco native take on Davis if he couldn’t stay on his two feet? Is this really our “champion?”

It’s good to be the winner when you don’t have to do anything. That was the case for the Baltimore native, who’s got every possibility lined up in front of him. Life is good for Gervonta Davis and his camp.

How Gervonta Davis Won the Night

Gervonta Davis’s last fight was against Ryan Garcia on April 22, 2023, at T-Mobile Arena. “Tank” knocked out Garcia in the seventh round, establishing himself as a bona fide fighter in boxing.

Like Garcia, the Baltimore native possesses devastating punching ability. His ability to counterpunch also made him a threat, as proven by his 27 knockouts. His knockout of the Los Alamitos native on April 22, 2023, proves that.

So, what did “Tank” have to do with a mega fight between Haney and Garcia? Aside from beating the Los Alamitos native, Davis’s name was brought up after the fight.

Even with Garcia winning the fight, the populace believed that Davis could take out both Garcia and Haney. Beating boxing’s newest superstar will earn you that distinction. The undefeated boxer reigned supreme without fighting, especially with a rematch looming. In essence, he held power over Garcia and the fight, making him the man for the night.

For Tank, The Ball’s In His Court

The undefeated boxer has plenty of options in his future. Whether it’s a rematch with one of the hottest boxers or a future title fight, Saturday’s fight laid out the landscape for Gervonta Davis. “Tank” is living the good life, with his whole life ahead of him.

Will he land another gargantuan body blow on Garcia or will he counterpunch Haney? Who knows. The only thing that matters for the Baltimore native is that he’s on top of the world, getting ready to return to boxing with a bang.
