Emanuel Navarrete and Oscar Valdez tore the house down.

Navarrete and Valdez collided inside the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona on August 12. Valdez was challenging for Navarrete's WBO junior lightweight championship. Boxing legends Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales were in attendance to see the two men they've been compared to for their exciting fighting styles.

Navarrete got off to a fast start. Navarrete had the challenger backing up to the ropes due to a hard right hand. Valdez was able to avoid further danger in the opening frame.

Valdez fired off more punches in the second stanza. The two engaged in a fun back-and-forth exchange with Navarrete landing a one-two combination, answered by a clean left hand to the chin by Valdez.

Navarrete landed a right hand and then lunged at his opponent in the third round. Another right hand over the top was there for Navarrete. 

Valdez landed a clean left hook in the fifth round, and Navarrete told him to bring it. Valdez went for a left hand upstairs. A left hook counter from Valdez was partially blocked by Navarrete. Valdez was forced to blocked a six-punch combo from Navarrete. While it was easily Valdez's best round up to this point, Navarette didn't let his foot off the gas.

A cut under the eye of Valdez began to form going into the sixth round. Valdez connected with a left hook. A left hook to the body landed for Valdez. He then landed a jab and this was perhaps the toughest round for Navarrete at this point.

Navarrete had short bursts in the seventh round. He turned up the heat down the stretch, landing punches with a combination before the bell sounded.

Valdez got round 10 started with a nice body shot. The commentary team noted that Navarrete appeared to be favoring his right hand. Navarrete was then seen adjusting the glove on his right hand. Navarrete was backpeddling and mostly just throwing out the left hand.

Navarrete continued throwing to the body and upstairs in the 11th round. The right eye of Valdez appeared to be getting worse. Valdez answered with a right hand over the top. A combination was there for Valdez with Navarrete covering up in the corner. 

They returned to the center of the ring and Valdez's eye looked close to shut. The two exchanged a barrage of shots near the end of the round to the delight of the Glendale crowd.

Valdez got the 11th round started with a flurry as Navarrete covered up against the ropes. A right hand was there for Navarrete. A right land landed for Valdez. Navarrete scored a lunging left hand, followed by another left. A right hand was there for Valdez, as Navarrete ate the shot and kept moving forward. 

The 12th and final round began with a standing ovation from the crowd. Valdez moved forward and missed a hook. Valdez went down to the mat, but it was from a shove, so a knockdown was not scored. Navarrete moved forward teeing off on his opponent. He went down due to a slip, which halted that momentum. Once again, this wasn't a knockdown.

A left hand from Navarrete sent Valdez backwards. A left hand to the body followed up a left to the head from Navarrete. The final bell sounded with both men swinging leather.

The fight went the distance and the score totals were ready. All three judges scored the fight for Emanuel Navarrete.
