Analyst criticizes Carson Beck, says Bulldogs QB is only 'Georgia good' ahead of 2024 season
Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

The number of analysts who are high on Georgia quarterback Carson Beck ahead of the 2024 college football season is almost too many to count.

But there are some who are skeptical that Beck, who has shown to be incredibly efficient from the pocket in addition to using his legs when called upon, is not as strong of a prospect as he's been presented as.

Colin Cowherd, known for his hot takes, is among those.

"I don't think he's a Top 5 pick," Cowherd said. "He's Georgia good."

That's quite the statement to make, considering Beck has been pinned as highly as the No. 1 overall pick in some of the way-too-early 2025 NFL mock drafts that have cropped up so far.

Despite what Cowherd may think, there's no denying Beck has made a plenty solid case for himself as he flew up the rankings in his first season as the Georgia starter.

He looked nothing short of prepared after sitting behind the likes of Stetson Bennett and JT Daniels, completing 72.4% of his passes for 3,941 yards with 24 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Beck also had 4 scores on the ground.

Beck ranks near the top in several statistical categories for college quarterbacks currently and is largely considered the Heisman Trophy favorite, running closely with Texas Longhorns signal-caller Quinn Ewers.

It will be interesting to watch how Beck progresses when the 2024 season gets underway for the Bulldogs. The action will kick off with a road matchup against the Clemson Tigers on Aug. 31.
