Luke Moga Recaps Oregon Visit, Meeting Marcus Mariota

"The number one highlight was the energy," Moga said of his time in Eugene. "I hadn’t been to an Oregon game. For sure nothing like this. I swear the seats were vibrating.

"My favorite part was shout. That was crazy. It’s kind of crazy to think my next game or next football stuff will be in that stadium. I got to catch up with a few offensive line commits Devin (Brooks), Fox (Crader) I was talking with Aydin Breland. I just saw a bunch of the guys and it was cool we were able to experience that.”

Oregon's current quarterback, Bo Nix, is having one of the best seasons in the college football and Moga had a front row seat to see what goes into his preparation. 

"I got to sit in all their many many walkthroughs and meetings. That dude’s a pro," he said of Nix. "I don’t know what a pro is, but sitting in meetings before and sitting with Nix is the craziest thing. It’s amazing. The way he has control of that entire team and that room. He came in five hours before the meetings. That dude is insane. Just his habits and everything he does. Everything off the field he does is crazy.”

The future Duck quarterback got to meet legendary Oregon quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota and reflected on that interaction.

"He's an Oregon great. He was an NFL great, he’s still in the league. I went up to introduce myself and he knew I was committed here. It was super cool to see one Heisman Trophy winner and see how the fans responded to him.

"It put it into perspective. I met a Heisman trophy winner, I sat in meetings with a current possible winner, and it’s cool to know I have the opportunity to be next up."

Moga was just one of many impressive high school players in Eugene this weekend and he's hoping a couple other players will join him at Oregon.

"Cooper Perry is a '25 wide receiver I’m going after. We still got Solomon Williams, and I was mostly talking to a bunch of younger guys. Roger (Saleapaga) is the guy we’re going after. I was talking to him and his family. I’ve been texting with him for a while. Telling him he can come room with me too and that we can get ahead and just be eclectic in that stadium.”

Moga's senior season came to a close last week and he discussed what's next for him.

“Season ended Thursday, so today I started my short little offseason before January workouts and training," he said. "I’ll just be training and then once I sign I’ll get in the playbook, start learning the concepts. I move in January 5. I believe I’ll be up there for the bowl game depending on what they do. It’s getting as ahead as I can before I early enroll.”

The future Oregon quarterback may not have won a playoff game like he wanted to, but he's going to use that as fuel at the next level.

"This next month and a half the motivation I’m working with is not only to win the job, but that I didn’t accomplish my last goal in high school."

Moga's explosion onto the national scene as big-time recruit also came with a lot of positives, perhaps chief among them being more exposure for the Sunnyslope Vikings football program.

"We had a record amount of media coverage," he said of his senior year. "So I’m glad that 'Slope can get on the trending up path. In the future I want to work with my resources at Oregon to help give back to the Sunnyslope program." 

The 6-foot-2, 198-pound quarterback is laser focused getting ready for his next chapter with the Ducks.

"I’m coming to learn and get better and I’m looking to make an impact early.”
