If you’re a Michigan football fan, there’s one sacred rule that reaches all aspects of your life: you MUST hate the Ohio State Buckeyes. Yet, that sentiment may not reign true for former Michigan Wolverine standout Mike Morris, who had many good things to say about the Buckeyes and Ohio State’s staff and players.

Mike Morris compliments Ohio State

It seems out of character for a Michigan football player — especially a locker room leader — to praise Ohio State, yet here we are. Here is what Morris had to say about the Buckeyes at the NFL Scouting Combine:

“I talked to Zach Harrison. I feel like they’re really cool guys. I mean, once we take off the uniform and stuff, we can all agree we’re all just human beings,” Morris said. “We’re all just football players trying to do what we love, so I feel like it wouldn’t be too hard at all. I feel like we’re all cool, and we’re all football players. But when November comes around, that sh*t dead. Excuse my language. I’m sorry. But we already talked about The Game (this past season). We’ve talked about it next year and what the plans are. I’m definitely gonna be calling him. He’ll probably be calling me.”

Is Morris correct about the Buckeyes?

To an extent, any rational person can see where Mike Morris is coming from — at the end of the day, football is just a game. Still, for many fans in both states, this rivalry is a way of life year-round, not just on gamedays. There may be some amazing people that cheer for the Buckeyes on the other side of Michigan’s southern boarder, but you’ll never hear us admit it.
