While the Buckeyes aren’t quite known to produce top QBs for the NFL, there have been a lot of great QBs to put on the scarlet and grey. Ohio State has had many great QBs from Rex Kern to Braxton Miller. Today we will rank the top 5 Ohio State QBs since 2000. The QBs will be ranked according to personal success and team success.

5. Braxton Miller

Braxton Miller was the Buckeyes Qb from 2011 to 2013. Miller was one of the most electrical guys to put on the scarlet and grey. Miller wasn’t an amazing passer but he could run a 4.2 in a phone booth. Braxton Miller threw 5,295 yards, 52 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Miller also rushed for 3,315 yards and 33 touchdowns. Miller went 26-8 as the Buckeyes Qb.

4. JT Barrett

JT Barrett was an above average passer but he could run. Barrett was the Qb from 2014 to 2017. He rarely missed a read while running read options at Ohio State. Barrett threw for 9,434 yards, 104 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. JT Barrett’s most memorable game at Ohio State is when he led the Buckeyes in a comeback win against Penn State in 2017. He has the highest winning percentage of any Ohio State Qb, he was 38-6 as a starter at Ohio State.

3. Justin Fields

Justin Fields was the Buckeyes Qb from 2019 – 2020. One of the most skilled Buckeye QBs to ever take the field. Fields was a great passer and a great runner. Unfortunately he was never able to get the Buckeyes over the hump. Fields led the Buckeyes to a 20-2 record in two years. He threw for 5,3,73 yards, 63 touchdowns and 9 interceptions while at Ohio State.

2. Dwayne Haskins

The most skilled passer in Ohio State history. Dwayne Haskins was the Qb in 2018. Haskins was a record breaker at Ohio State, he broke Drew Brees Big Ten touchdown record for a season with 50 touchdowns. Dwayne Haskins threw for 5,396 yards, 54 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He went 13-1 as a starter.

1. Troy Smith

Troy Smith was the full package at Ohio State, he was a skilled passer and runner. Smith is the only Buckeye Qb to win a heisman trophy. Smith led the Buckeyes to a record of 21 and 3 as a starter. Troy smith threw for 5,720 yards, 54 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
