20 celebrities who are obsessed with their pets

No celebrity talks more about their pets than Taylor Swift. The musician has made her love for her cats apparent in countless interviews, and even fans are well aware of their names: Meredith Grey, Olivia, and Benjamin. 

Although her cat, Kitty Purry, is no longer with us, Katy Perry will always be rightfully obsessed with it. It takes a special kind of confidence to name your pet a pun on your own name, and we’re grateful that Perry was the one to do it. 

Lisa Vanderpump’s pets might be more famous than she is. For years, her dog, Giggy, was the most revered pet in all of Bravo, and while the rest of her menagerie at Villa Rosa aren’t known by name, they’re still just as iconic as a whole. 

Zendaya is a huge fan of her pets. The star has featured her dogs on many an Instagram post, and she’s even shared footage of herself and Tom Holland cuddling dogs at a shelter in London. 

Vanessa Hudgens is a dog girlie. The actor has had multiple dogs since becoming famous, one of which she adopted with Austin Butler while the two were in a relationship. After their breakup, Hudgens kept the dog. 

You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl. Miley Cyrus has stayed true to her country roots as an artist, and she has as a pet owner, too. The singer has dogs, cats, horses, and a pig.

Mariska Hargitay is a proud pet owner, and she made the internet just as obsessed with her new cat in 2023 when she announced its name as Karma after the Taylor Swift song. Swift famously has a cat named Olivia after Hargitay’s character, Olivia Benson, on Law & Order: SVU. 

Demi Moore tried to get worldwide recognition for her pet. Her dog, Pilaf, is a tiny animal, and Moore submitted Pilaf to the Guinness Book of World Records to see if it qualified for the title of Shortest Living Dog. Moore has an Instagram account for Pilaf, too. 

Justin Theroux loves his dog, and he wants others to follow the same path he did. Theroux adopted his dog after it was rescued from Hurricane Harvey, and the actor strongly advocates for pet adoption, even attending galas and working with rescue organizations. 

Justin and Hailey Bieber have multiple pets together, and they seem to be fond of all sorts of animals. Among their four-legged friends are hamsters, cats, and dogs, and Justin has even had a pet snake and a pet monkey. 

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have had lots of dogs throughout their marriage, including a Basset Hound named Pearl. Pearl was an especially endearing addition to their brood, as Teigen shared that she’s always been a lover of the breed.  

Reese Witherspoon is another dog person. The Oscar-winning actor has a whole passel of dogs, including two separate bulldogs. Witherspoon has been known to name her dogs after famous people, such as Salvador Dali and Hank Williams. 

Drew Barrymore is such a pet person she managed to secure a brand deal with Tidy Cats. The actor has both dogs and cats, and she’s got a bearded dragon, all of whom are welcome with Barrymore in her bed. 

Lots of people across the world brought home new pets during the COVID-19 pandemic, including Selena Gomez. The singer already had Winnie, and when citizens were advised to stay home to stop the spread of the disease, she adopted another dog, Daisy. 

Usher is another pet-loving celebrity with animals of all kinds. The singer has a couple of goats, and he has a Goldendoodle. Usher’s dog set him back $12,000, but the proceeds went toward building new schools in third-world countries. 

James Van Der Beek’s entire family loves dogs. The actor and his wife have five kids, and now they have as many dogs as they do kids. When the family welcomed their fifth dog, Van Der Beek joked on social media that it would’ve been “too easy” to have kids outnumber dogs. 

Zac Efron had a dog named Puppy for many years, and after Puppy died, Efron welcomed a new dog named MACA. While it was sad that Efron’s dog died, the story was made much better by the detail that the name of the establishment where Efron got his new dog is called Bark n’ B-tches.  

Ellen DeGeneres is famously a pet person. Not only do she and Portia de Rossi have multiple pets at home that they love, they started a non-profit organization that helps save endangered species around the world. DeGeneres is particularly supportive of gorillas in Rwanda. 

Kaley Cuoco’s pet collection includes four rescue dogs named Opal, King, Ruby, and Blue. The Big Bang Theory star also has a variety of horses, and she’s quite the accomplished equestrian. In 2023, Cuoco sadly said goodbye to one of her former riding horses. 

Kristen Bell has adopted multiple dogs, and she’s an advocate for others doing the same. Bell has also fostered dogs, and she’s shared in detail what it’s like for her family to welcome a new dog with so many already in the fold.
