Billie Eilish announces that 'Happier Than Ever' is not only a song but an entire album

Monday, Billie Eilish tilted social media off of its axis to the tune of over 30 million combined likes when she shared two cryptic Instagram posts nodding toward a new era of music:

The logical assumption was that "Happier Than Ever" would be her next single drop, and that is still true, but she let loose Tuesday morning that Happier Than Ever will be released as her sophomore studio album July 30:

"MY NEW ALBUM “Happier Than Ever” OUT JULY 30TH!" Eilish captioned the presumed album cover. "this is my favorite thing i’ve ever created and i am so excited and nervous and EAGER for you to hear it. i can’t even tell you. i’ve never felt so much love for a project than i do for this one. hope you feel what i feel. alsoooo new song out thursday at 9am pt too!! pre-save/add/order nowwwww link in bio. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

The title track will drop Thursday (April 29) at noon EST.

Eilish is only 19 years old, but it feels like she has been atop the music industry for much longer than the nearly six years that have passed since "Ocean Eyes" went viral. The Los Angeles native has since collected seven Grammys, including back-to-back record of the year wins ("Bad Guy," "Everything I Wanted").

In other words, Happier Than Ever is a surefire bet to debut at No. 1. The project will serve as the follow up to WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?, released March 2019 and produced by her brother Finneas.

Eilish has dropped four singles since her debut album—most recently November's "Therefore I Am"—while her Apple TV Plus documentary The World's a Little Blurry arrived Feb. 26.
