The latest Deadpool and Wolverine trailer is packed full of Easter eggs. While it showed off Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in action for the first time, there were plenty of other characters hiding in the background.

They may show up for less than a second, but fans were quick to spot them. Here are all of the hidden heroes and villains from the trailer who are set to make an appearance when Deadpool and Wolverine releases 26 July 2024.

If you haven’t seen it, here’s the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer, giving a new look at Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds.

Deadpool and Wolverine characters

Marvel

Last appearing in 2006 film X-Men: The Last Stand, Callisto led a small band of outcast mutants. She has superhuman senses, able to detect individuals with the mutant gene. It didn’t help her in the final battle on Alcatraz Island when Storm threw her against an electrified fence.

Marvel

A fan-favourite after appearing in X-Men: First Class, Azazel can teleport at will. He’s basically like a demonic Nightcrawler, and does things like teleport people into the sky then drop them. He had an undignified off-screen death in X-Men: Days of Future Past, in which we’re told he was experimented on by Boliver Trask.

Marvel

She debuted, and died, in 2003’s X2, defeated by Wolverine and pumped full of adamantium. Like Hugh Jackman’s character she possesses near-instant healing abilities and advanced fighting skills. She also has ten adamantium claws emerging from her fingers, as opposed to Wolverine’s six knuckle blades.

Marvel

The hunched posture, the green-looking outfit - this guy looks a lot like Toad, the long-tongued, slime-spitting villain from 2000’s first X-Men movie. There he was played by Darth Maul actor Ray Park, but it’s unconfirmed who’s reviving the role in this film. It could be Evan Jonigkeit, who portrayed Toad for one scene set during the Vietnam war in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Marvel

A little-known villain, The Russian last appeared in live-action during 2004’s The Punisher movie, as played by former pro wrestler Kevin Nash. His powers are being big, strong, and Russian. According to rumors, he’s played in Deadpool and Wolverine by stuntman Billy Clements.

Marvel

No-one knows which actor is playing Alioth, since this isn’t a person at all. It’s a trans-temporal entity that resembles a big purple cloud. The guardian of the void (a dimension people end up when they’re kicked out of their own timeline), we first saw Alioth in Disney+ series Loki.

Marvel

Yes, this dog is actually an established character in the Deadpool comics, first appearing in Prelude to Deadpool Corps #3 (2010). It’s basically the dog version of Deadpool with a slightly different backstory, obtaining its powers after acting as a test subject for self-replenishing mascara.
