Helen Mirren to host 'Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses' competition series

Dame Hellen Mirren is the only person to have accomplished the Triple Crown of Acting—winning an Academy Award, Emmy Award and Tony Award—in both the United States and her native United Kingdom, but her resume is really popping now that she's set to enter the wizarding world.

Per Variety, the 76-year-old actress will host a four-part Harry Potter competition series that will film in September and air before the end of 2021:

"The event, officially titled Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses, will put superfans of the beloved book and film series to the test as they use their Harry Potter knowledge to compete for the coveted House Cup. The special will feature hundreds of Harry Potter trivia questions and include a few special guest appearances. Although a date for the event has yet to be announced, it will be simulcast on Cartoon Network’s ACME Night and TBS and will then be available to stream on HBO Max."

"I knew someday I'd get a Harry Potter role, and I'm so pleased to take part in the 20-year film celebration," Mirren's statement reads. "The films inspired such enchantment and wonder for so many of us, and it will be such a treat to reignite that magic for the countless fans who continue to revel in this spellbinding world."

Nov. 14 will mark the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone being released in U.S. theaters, the first of eight installments in the historic film franchise based on J.K. Rowling's novels: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Goblet of Fire (2005), Order of the Phoenix (2007), Half-Blood Prince (2009), Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) and Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011).

Daniel Radcliffe portrayed the iconic titular wizard—The Boy Who Lived—throughout the series, and he stifled any hope of a formal 20-year reunion in early July.

"I'm in the Dominican Republic at the moment filming, and then I'm going to be busy—kind of working on bits and pieces until the end of the year," the 32-year-old actor told Entertainment Tonight, as he was filming Lost City of D. "So, yeah, I don't know. I'm sure there will be some sort of celebration, but I don't know if we will be getting together or anything. I'm sorry if that's a bit of a disappointment to anyone."
