It's almost been a year since Barbie hit the box office, but people are still gushing over it.

On the red carpet at the Cinémathèque Française in Paris, where the first major exhibition dedicated to James Cameron's work is currently running, Cameron had some things to say about Greta Gerwig's $1.4 billion grossing hit.

"I asked her in an interview, 'What made you think you could make that film?' And she said, 'I didn't think about it. I just went into it, and it just felt natural. Let me try the script, and it'll become real for me in the script'," Cameron said.

Cameron related to that process, saying, "I got that completely because the writing process is where you run the simulation of the movie in your mind."

Sigourney Weaver also had praise for the film, saying, "I loved Barbie, actually, and I think it deserved to win more".

Weaver also commented on the lack of Best Director nomination for Greta Gerwig, "I think she certainly deserved a nomination".

Running until January 5, 2025, The Art of James Cameron is a complete retrospective of Cameron's work, featuring a carefully curated selection of the filmmaker's personal archive, including sketches, drawings, paintings, props, costumes, photographs and even designs from unrealized film projects.
