Lorde received an IV drip after day drinking with Seth Meyers

Lorde's schedule is filling up quickly as Solar Power , her third studio album, is due for release Aug. 20, but the two-time Grammy winner took a day off to drink with Seth Meyers for Wednesday's (July 20) Late Night.

They enjoyed themselves so much that Lorde needed an IV drip to recover:

The 12-minute segment found Lorde and Meyers at Zero Bond. They drank and drank and drank. Meyers mixed drinks based on some of the 24-year-old's biggest hits as he tried to memorize Lorde's birth name (Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor).

Things escalated with a game called "New Zealand Slang," where Lorde quizzed Meyers on common phrases from her homeland. If he defined the word incorrectly, he had to take a shot. If he guessed correctly, Lorde had to take a shot. The tables turned when Meyers then put Lorde to the test over New England slang.

Crown Royal came into play with a game centered around the Royal Family, inspired by Lorde's 2013 No. 1 smash "Royals." The afternoon wrapped with the unlikely duo painting the cover of her 2017 sophomore album Melodrama followed by Meyers (drunkenly and very poorly) singing "Green Lights."

"We got so blasted," Lorde clarified during her corresponding sit-down Late Night interview. "I don't know if people realize how drunk you're really getting when you do this thing."

The singer-songwriter also detailed how her trip to Antarctica inspired Solar Power before performing her latest single "Stoned at the Nail Salon." Watch both below.
