'That '70s Show' Laura Prepon reveals she stopped practicing Scientology five years ago

Add Laura Prepon to the list of celebrities who have left Scientology in the past.

"I'm no longer practicing Scientology," the That '70s Show and Orange Is the New Black star told People in an exclusive new interview. "I've always been very open-minded, even since I was a child. I was raised Catholic and Jewish. I've prayed in churches, meditated in temples. I've studied Chinese meridian theory. I haven't practiced Scientology in close to five years and it's no longer part of my life."

The 41-year-old actress has since begun meditating daily with her husband, Ben Foster, whom she married in June 2018. The couple share four-year-old Ella and a 16-month-old son whose name is not publicly known.

"If motherhood has taught me anything so far, it's that something can work out for a period of time and then you move on and evolve from that," Prepon added. "As a new mom, I was riddled with anxiety that I had never experienced before. My friends who were mothers with older kids said, 'Laura, this is a phase, you'll move on and then it will be something different.' And that has transcended into other parts of my life. We're all evolving. I always see that with my kids."

Prepon joined the Church of Scientology in 1999 and raised eyebrows with revelations she described for Celebrity magazine in July 2015, which IndieWire summed up.

Leah Remini is perhaps the star most associated with escaping Scientology in 2013 and subsequently dedicating a portion of her public life to exposing its harmful tactics, including a new post Tuesday (Aug. 17):
