'That '70s Show' spinoff is coming to Netflix, and at least two stars are returning

There you were—going about your Friday, fully immersed in the happenings of 2021.

And then Netflix announced it has ordered 10 episodes of That '90s Show, a spinoff of That '70s Show, and you suddenly realize how much you've missed Kitty and Red Forman in your life.

Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith have signed on to reprise their roles of Kitty and Red, respectively, as well as executive produce the series, per Deadline.

The outlet provided further context, including the official synopsis that places the series back in Wisconsin:

"Set in Wisconsin in 1995, That ’90s Show follows Leia Forman, daughter of Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Laura Prepon), who is visiting her grandparents for the summer where she bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red. Sex, drugs and rock ’n roll never dies, it just changes clothes.

"There are currently no deals in place with other That ’70s cast members for the new series, but the expectations is that a number of them, including Grace, Prepon and Ashton Kutcher, will make guest appearances, reprising their roles."

That '70s Show aired for eight seasons from 1998 to 2006 on Fox. Along with Grace, Kutcher and Prepon, the ensemble cast was rounded out by Mila Kunis, Danny Masterson and Wilmer Valderrama.

Kunis and Kutcher originally met on the That '70s set and later reconnected before getting married in July 2015, and they share two kids.

Kutcher and Masterson co-starred on Netflix's The Ranch (2016-20), which Kutcher also executive produced, before Masterson was written off the show when rape allegations against him surfaced in 2017. It was ruled in Los Angeles Superior Court in late May that the 45-year-old Scientologist would have to stand trial on three counts of rape.
