The ultimate Karol G playlist

On her path to breaking through the male-dominated reggaeton scene, Karol G has become one of today's top Latin pop stars. The Colombian singer has sold out concerts around the world while breaking records. In March 2023, Karol G made history as the first woman to top the Billboard 200 chart with a Spanish-language album. To look back on Karol G's success, here are 20 of her must-hear songs and collaborations.

In 2017, Karol G released her first album, the aptly titled Unstoppable. One song from that LP she has performed throughout all her tours is the heartfelt reggaeton track "A Ella." In that song, Karol G warned her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend about his shortcomings.

Before they became two of today's top Latin pop stars, Karol G teamed up with Bad Bunny in 2017. The Puerto Rican singer joined her on the trap-infused banger "Ahora Me Llama." Karol G and Bad Bunny traded verses about how much better their lives were without their exes in the picture.

"Hijoepu*#"

Before selling-out tours on her own in the US, Karol G served as an opening act on Gloria Trevi's Diosa De La Noche Tour in 2019. Karol G also teamed up with the Mexican pop icon for her breakup anthem "Hijoepu*#." They co-wrote the song with Colombian singer Camilo, who has exploded in popularity since then.

Karol G came up through the music scene at the same time as J Balvin and Maluma. The trio used to run into each other in their hometown of Medellín while performing at local parties and events. In 2018, Karol G and Maluma finally teamed up for "Créeme," a song about a relationship that ran its course.

In 2019, the Avengers of reggaeton joined forces for the explosive "China." It's probably one song that Karol G wants to leave in the past that was by her ex-boyfriend Anuel AA. He teamed up with her, Ozuna, J Balvin, and Daddy Yankee for the global hit that sampled Shaggy's classic "It Wasn't Me."

When she was still very much in love with Anuel AA, Karol G released the beautiful ballad "Ocean" in 2019. Backed by a piano, she sang about being grateful for every moment that they shared together in life. The song was co-written by Panamanian superstar Sech, who broke out later that year with his global hit "Otro Trago."

Karol G achieved a global breakthrough in 2019 thanks to the smash hit "Tusa." She joined forces with Trinidadian-born rap star Nicki Minaj for the queenly collaboration. Minaj sang a few lines in Spanish as they both advocated for getting over heartbreak with intoxicating nights in the club.

In 2020, Karol G made a statement for women in reggaeton with her global hit "Bichota." The title is the female variation of Puerto Rican slang "bichote," which can mean "big boss" or "drug lord." Karol G spun the word "bichota" into an anthem of empowerment that encouraged women to live their best lives.

Karol G appeared to hint at her breakup with Anuel AA in 2021 with "El Barco." In the haunting track, she sang about moving on from a past relationship because that ship had sailed. Aventura's Lenny Santos joined Karol G for a performance of the bachata-infused song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon .

Karol G and J Balvin proudly represented Medellín in the "Poblado" remix in 2021. They hopped on the song by Crissin, Totoy El Frio, and Natan y Shander to put a spotlight on more talent from their hometown. Puerto Rican reggaeton pioneer Nicky Jam also joined them for the alluring collaboration.

Karol G appears to have a new man in her life, fellow Colombian singer Feid. In 2021, she jumped on her rumored boyfriend's sexy reggaeton banger "Friki." Both artists showed their support for the LGBTQ+ community by including same-sex couples in the mix of debauchery in the music video.

Reggaeton music is a genre rooted in Puerto Rico and Panama. In 2021, Karol G paid tribute to the Puerto Rican pioneers of the genre with the "Leyendas" medley. The song featured Wisin y Yandel, Nicky Jam, Zion, Alberto Stylee, and Ivy Queen, who broke down barriers for women in reggaeton.

Two of the top G's in Latin music joined forces in 2022. Mexican-American pop star Becky G teamed up with Karol G for her breakup anthem "Mamiii." They performed it live together for the first time at Coachella later that year during Karol G's set on the main stage.

Karol G captured the magic of her hometown in the song "Provenza" in 2022. The title is taken from the name of one of her favorite spots to visit in Medellín. Karol G was among the first Latin artists to embrace Afrobeats influences in this dreamy track.

Two of Colombia's biggest artists collided for the first time last year. Karol G teamed up with Latin pop icon Shakira for the fierce collaboration "TQG." The song was included on Karol G's album Mañana Será Bonito, becoming the first Spanish-language LP by a woman to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

One of the most underrated songs from the Mañana Será Bonito album is "Amargura." In the heartbreaking reggaeton banger, Karol G sang about the pain of seeing her ex dancing with another woman. Karol G knew how much her fans loved this song and performed it twice a night on the US leg of her Mañana Será Bonito Tour.

Karol G is a big fan of the late Mexican-American icon Selena. Last year, she paid tribute to Tejano sound of Selena with the kiss-off anthem "Mi Ex Tenía Razón." Karol G seemingly shaded her past relationship with Anuel AA by singing that she's much happier with the man in her life now (presumably Feid).

Last year, Karol G was part of the Barbie universe by way of the movie's soundtrack. She teamed up with Panamanian legend Aldo Ranks for "Watati," which was reminiscent of the genre that paved the way for reggaeton called reggae en español. In the film, Margot Robbie's Barbie and Ryan Gosling's Ken go rollerblading to the song.

Colombian-American star Kali Uchis featured on Karol G's song "Me Tengo Que Ir" last year. Karol G later returned the favor by hopping on Uchis' girl power banger "Labios Mordidos." In the explosive collaboration, Uchis proudly embraced her bisexual identity by singing about her love for other women.
