Former Utah wide receiver Steve Smith Jr. was the guest picker on ESPN's College GameDay ahead of No. 13 Utah's matchup with No. 8 Oregon.
While he was picking matchup winners with the crew, they came to the meeting between North Carolina State and Clemson. Smith weighed in, explaining that he thought even though Clemson was struggling they'd be able to pull off the victory because North Carolina State is more of a basketball school.
"Look, Clemson has been struggling, they're not the Clemson we've loved over the years, but NC State, unfortunately, they're waiting for basketball to start," Smith said.
The Wolfpack was able to beat Clemson by a score of 24-17, and their head coach heard about what Smith had to say and responded accordingly.
