Future WWE Hall of Famer John Cena recently had quite the talk with a major AEW star.

It's no secret that some AEW talent have caught the eye of WWE higher-ups and vice versa. This is what makes free agency a fun time for wrestling fans. WWE recently brought back Andrade after his run with AEW, and reportedly scooped up former NJPW talent Tama Tonga.

Cena has apparently made his pitch to a former AEW World Champion.

John Cena and MJF met in person during the premiere of "The Iron Claw." During an appearance on "Insight with Chris Van Vliet," Cena admitted having a chat with MJF about eventually getting him on the "right team" (h/t Fightful).

"Then, we got back, and I was able to talk to him more. 'Maybe we can get you to play for the right team one day,' and all that. There is no denying the fact that he's doing good work. I don't think I should ignore that. Honestly, I was floored by his professionalism. It would have been an easy target, at a wrestling movie premiere, to have yourself a moment. We did have a moment, and it was one the internet paid attention to, and it was one where I was hoping that this person I met, I could once bet on. 'If we just get you over here, that'd be awesome,' but it was great. It was great to meet a professional, classy, driven young man.'"

Time will tell if MJF ever does make his way over to WWE. He had been playing up being a free agent this year, but he's widely believed to have re-signed with AEW.
