With the month of April around the corner, the golf fans have started to get excited for the return of the major championships. Next month will mark the return of the iconic The Masters tournament. The event though will also mark the return of Tiger Woods.
The 15-time major champion was last seen during the Genesis Invitational where he made his first PGA Tour start in over 10 months. However, it did not last long has he had to withdraw from the event in Round two. With him not making an appearance at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship, there were some who were doubting that he would skip the Masters as well.
The major reason for this concern from the fans was because Tiger Woods had previously claimed that he will try to participate in at least one event per month. So to see him miss the two signature events in back-to-back weeks came as a surprise to many.
This doubt of the fans seems to have been cleared though as the Masters website on Wednesday listed his name in the field. This list includes the name of every golfer who will be participating in the event at the Augusta National in April.

Whether Woods can win though is a complete different question. Since his car crash he been a little rusty and with his last victory coming in 2019, very few are betting on him walking away with a sixth green jacket this year. However, golf has produced some incredible storylines before so counting him out completely could be a mistake.
In the past few months, Tiger Woods’ role for the PGA Tour has increased. The 48-year-old currently serves as one of the player-director of the Tour’s policy board and is the vice-chairman of the new entity, PGA Tour Enterprises. As a result of this, he was chosen to lead the tour’s meeting with PIF governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan.
As per a memo released by Commissioner Jay Monahan, the meeting seems to have gone smooth between the two parties. The 53-year-old however, did not give any details on when the merger can go through.
Woods and Al-Rumayyan were even said to have played a round of golf together. Some more details regarding the meeting have now emerged with Webb Simpson , expressing the desire of Al-Rumayyan to see the game of golf grow.
If definitely seems like he envisions a place in the game of golf. We didn’t get as far as what he wants and what does LIV want. He certainly seems engaged enough in the game already that he has desires to see the game grow globally.

With Woods taking the charge, the PGA Tour are positive that the deal could go through soon. This could see the end of hostility between the tours and unify the game of golf, something both Commissioner Monahan and Yasir Al-Rumayyan have wished for.
