Who is Tiger Woods' new caddie, Lance Bennett?

When you tune in to The Genesis Invitational this week to watch Tiger Woods return to the golf course, you're going to notice a few differences in his look. Not only will Woods be donning his new brand, Sun Day Red, instead of his Nike threads; but he'll also have a brand new caddie on his bag.

Tiger recently gave Joe LaCava, his trusted caddie since 2012, permission to carry Patrick Cantlay's bag full-time. That created an opening that needed filling for the 2024 season, so Woods tabbed veteran caddie Lance Bennett as his new bagman.

Bennett has a ton of PGA Tour experience under his belt. He's been looping on the PGA Tour since 2003 and previously worked with Matt Kuchar, Zach Johnson, Bill Haas, Sungjae Im and Davis Riley. Bennett currently carries the bag full-time for talented rookie Adrien Dumont de Chassart.

Woods has been friends with Bennett for nearly two decades, and he's excited for their potential as a team.

Woods discusses his relationship with his caddie, Lance Bennett.

"I've had a great relationship with him over the years going back to when he caddied for [Kuchar] and when we played at the Presidents Cup together back in, what, Muirfield Village," Woods told reporters this week ahead of The Genesis Invitational. "Very down to earth, very loyal and how he conversated through the years, I've also taken notice of that. We've had the same type of feels in how we look at the golf course and how we read putts; they’re very similar."

The question here is how long Bennett will last on Woods' bag. The veteran caddie already has a full-time gig, but he was able to team up with Woods this week because De Chassart didn't qualify for The Genesis Invitational. If Tiger and De Chassart end up in the same field at any point this season, Woods will have to scramble to find another option.

The obvious candidate would be Rob McNamara, Woods' longtime friend and the VP of TGR Ventures. McNamara caddied for Woods at the Hero World Challenge in December, and the duo has a comfort level that would be hard to find anywhere else.
