Chicago White Sox Roster Moves | 04/12/2024

The 2-10 Chicago White Sox will start a three-game series with the 6-6 Cincinnati Reds this evening. They are coming off a three-game series with the Cleveland Guardians in which they lost two of three games. The White Sox are 1-4 over their last five games. Before the game today, they announced a handful of moves to their roster.

RHP – Bryan Shaw

The White Sox have designated Shaw for assignment. He has appeared in five games this year, going 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA. Shaw only pitched four innings this year, allowing eight hits, four earned runs, four walks, and striking out four batters.

2B – Yoan Moncada

The White Sox transferred Moncada from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list with a Left adductor injury. The injury is a disappointment for a once highly touted prospect. On the year, he has played in 11 games, slashing .282/.364/.410 with a .774 OPS on the year. He has 11 hits, four runs scored, three doubles, one triple, five walks, 10 strikeouts, and one stolen base.

RHP – Justin Anderson

The White Sox have selected Justin Anderson’s contract from the Charlotte Knights ahead of the weekend series. Anderson has pitched in five games so far this year for Charlotte. He has one save in one opportunity. He has pitched 4.2 innings, allowing three hits, no walks, and five strikeouts.

3B – Zach Remillard

The White Sox selected the contract of Remillard from the Charlotte Knights ahead of the weekend series. He has played in 10 games so far this season for Charlotte, slashing .158/.267/.211 with a .478 OPS on the year. He has scored seven runs, with six hits, one double, and three RBIs. six walks, eight strikeouts, and one stolen base.

OF – Oscar Colas

The White Sox optioned Oscar Colas to the Charlotte Knights before the weekend series with the Reds. Colas has played in one game for the White Sox this year getting one at-bat going 0-1.

Wrap Up:

The White Sox is a lineup that is decimated by injuries right now. Mind you, the talent wasn’t that deep to begin with, but without Moncada, Luis Robert, and Eloy Jimenez, this team is going to continue to score runs. Justin Anderson is the one I am interested in the most to see how he handles the pressures of the big leagues and to see if he can continue to get outs while not issuing any free passes.
