Dodgers Injured Pitcher Feels Great, Ready to Pitch in 2024 After Missing All of 2023
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Dodgers will be getting a big piece to their bullpen added this season. Right-handed relief pitcher J.P. Feyereisen will be returning to the mound after missing all of 2023 following a rotator cuff/shoulder labrum surgery.

He was acquired from Tampa Bay last offseason and has been rehabbing his injury since. L.A. had one of the better bullpens in the league in the second half of 2023, so adding Feyereisen to the mix should only help them grow.

In an interview with Doug McKain of dodgersnation.com, Feyereisen provided an update on his physical health after missing so much time.

"If not physically better, at that same point. Last year was a pretty good reset, and my arm feels great. I haven’t had any issues with it. No setbacks since the end of this past year. I’m feeling good. So I’m excited for this year.”

Feyereisen projects to be a productive member of the Dodgers' bullpen this coming season. He last pitched in 2022 with the Tampa Bay Rays and will be looking to keep his scoreless streak alive.

In 24.1 innings of work with the Rays in 2022, Feyereisen didn't allow a single run. If he can bring this type of productivity over to Los Angeles, the Dodgers will have gotten a steal.

“I’ve been playing catch all off-season. I’m actually going to head down a little early to spring, get into some warmer weather out of this Wisconsin, and get to the complex a little bit here and there to work with some of the guys on the team, and also some of the coaches.”

The Dodgers haven't added much to their bullpen this offseason since it's not a major necessity. Feyereisen provides them with some extra hope that they didn't have last season, and the team is banking on him continuing to be successful out on the mound.
