Plans to put Powerhouse Hobbs and Don Callis together in All Elite Wrestling have been in the works for quite some time.

All Elite Wrestling‘s Powerhouse Hobbs was a recent guest on In The Kliq. When asked if he feels like being paired with Don Callis is a reset for his character, Hobbs said he wouldn’t call it a reset and considers it just him being himself.

“I wouldn’t call it a reset. I would call it me being myself,” Powerhouse Hobbs said. While we were in the pandemic, Don Callis came, made his appearance at AEW. This is a true story, the God’s honest truth. Don looked at me and said, you are — what’s the exact words he said? He didn’t say to me, you could be somebody. He said you’re going to be somebody.

“And that meant a whole lot because Don has been in this business for so long, and the chance that I finally got to work with him. What people don’t know is Don actually came out to Oakland with me to film those [Book of Hobbs] vignettes. Don and I have — I wouldn’t say we’ve been in cahoots, but we’ve been talking for a while.

“Don has been with me, and he has helped me get a lot of stuff off my chest. So I wouldn’t say — I know fans are saying that this is another reset for Powerhouse Hobbs, this isn’t a reset. What you see on TV is me. The promo I cut on Jericho about yelling at my grandma and yelling at me; that’s legit frustration. Like I had some Chris Jericho figures, and that junk ended up in the fireplace, which I got in trouble for wasting my grandparents’ money, but obviously, that was real. That’s a true story.”

Powerhouse Hobbs basically dominated Chris Jericho on AEW Dynamite

When asked about his dominant win over Chris Jericho on AEW Dynamite, Hobbs said it solidified things in his mind that he was meant to do this.

“It means that I was meant to do this,” Powerhouse Hobbs said. “I’ve earned everything in the past three years that has been thrown at me. Every opportunity that I’ve had, I Hank Aaron’d it. I hit it out of the park.”
