Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz being shot a little over a year ago in the Dominican Republic was a wild story, but now a restraining order reportedly has been filed against the slugger in the country.
Dominican newspaper Listin Diario reports the order was filed by Ortiz's former partner, Fary Almanzar Fernandez, who also is the mother of Ortiz's son. The court order was issued on May 21, and Fernandez alleged that she's been "intimidated and threatened" by Ortiz.
According to terms of the order, Ortiz must refrain from "annoying, intimidating or threatening" Fernandez via in person or by phone.
As of Monday, Ortiz has yet to respond to the allegations, though you can bet the future Hall of Famer will make some sort of statement in the coming week(s).
Ortiz is one of the most respected people in the Dominican Republic, and he even announced plans for "Big Papi Stadium," which will become one of, if not the best, ballparks in Latin America and the Caribbean.
