Watch: Red Sox give up another embarrassing little league home run

With the Red Sox leading the New York Mets 2-0 in the top of the fourth, Jeff McNeil hit an innocent looking single to center, scoring two runs to tie the game.

That was when things went chaotic for both teams.

After center fielder Jarren Duran's throw was late, catcher Jorge Alfaro attempted to throw McNeil out at second base. Trouble was, his throw was woefully off target, went between all of the outfielders and then rolled deep into the outfield allowing McNeil to completely circle the bases to give the Mets the lead.

If this play looks familiar, there is a reason for that. And that is the fact this is the second time this season the Red Sox have done this exact same thing! 

It was only a couple of months ago that they did this against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Having that sort of play happen one time in a season is bad enough. Having the exact same thing happen twice before the end of July is just completely embarrassing for a big league team.

The other shocking thing about all of that is the crowd at Fenway Park. The number of Mets fans in attendance made that sound like a game at Citi Field in Queens. Things are simply not going well for the Red Sox.
