Before Spencer Dinwiddie, Rob Pelinka Outlined 2 Buyout Signing Priorities
USA TODAY Sports

Your Los Angeles Lakers let the trade deadline come and go without making any trades, something many people didn't expect. The team has been wildly inconsistent all season, and many expected them to upgrade the roster.

Instead, the Lakers are signing just-cut former Brooklyn Nets point guard Spencer Dinwiddie once he clears waivers.

Ahead of the Dinwiddie deal, Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka laid out the types of players that Los Angeles would be going for this buyout season. Per Jovan Buha of The Athletic, Pelinka mentioned a ballhandling guard and then the best possible player that they can get. This signaled that the Lakers could be looking at grabbing a second players to add to the team, aside from Dinwiddie.

Dinwiddie has the skillset needed to control the ball on offense and can knock down three-point shots as well. He could be a nice piece for the team moving forward for the rest of the season.

They also could look to add more depth at the wing spot or center position. The Lakers can offer players a chance to play alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, even if the record isn't the greatest.

Whomever the team grabs should help make a playoff push, but health is the most important factor. The Lakers just need to get into the dance, and then anything is possible from there.
