Fans Pine For Frank Vogel After Latest Darvin Ham Coaching Performance
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers franchise has seen the highest of highs throughout its existence, winning 17 NBA titles. They have been the top franchise in the history of basketball, consistently winning each decade.

However, with all the success that the team has seen, it also brings high expectations. With these, sometimes mistakes can be made based on one poor season or being blinded by external factors.

Simply put, sometimes the grass isn't always greener. This rings true for the Lakers as they deal with the drama surrounding their head coach right now. Darvin Ham has been under fire all year long for his coaching decisions , and fans are now calling out for former head coach Frank Vogel.

Vogel was the scapegoat for the disastrous 2021-2022 season that saw Los Angeles miss the playoffs entirely. He was fired after the year ended, giving Ham the chance to take over the job.

Ham did well in his first season, helping take the Lakers to the Western Conference Finals. But in Lakerland, it's all about what have you done for me lately and Ham has made plenty of mistakes this year.

His lineup decisions have been terrible and it seems that the locker room may be tuning him out. Barring another deep playoff run, it's likely that Ham will be let go at the end of the season.

Losing Vogel seemed like a good move at the time, but he has been an underrated coach in the NBA for some time. He helped lead the Lakers to a title in his first season with them, but again, the expectations weighed it all down.

Vogel is happily coaching the Phoenix Suns, a direct rival of the Lakers. So if the team does fire Ham, it's anyone's guess who would replace him. But something needs to change, and Ham's time in Los Angeles may be over sooner than anyone originally believed.
