Heat Assistant Chris Quinn Confirms Interview for Pistons Coaching Job
John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports

Heat assistant coach Chris Quinn has confirmed an interview for the Pistons’ coaching vacancy, per Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Quinn is among the many reported candidates, a list that also includes Pistons assistants Jerome Allen and Rex Kalamian.

Other names linked to the Pistons’ vacancy:

Quinn, 39, is a former NBA point guard and has been an assistant under Erik Spoelstra with the Heat since 2014. He has been linked to several vacancies over the previous several seasons.

The Pistons have no timeframe on when they will make a decision, GM Troy Weaver indicated. They are expected to begin the interview process this week.

“I think it’s my job to know what the team needs,” Weaver said, via James L. Edwards III of The Athletic. “A lot of time you’ll see, more often than not, people go the opposite way. If you had an offensive coach, you want a defensive coach. If you had a defensive coach, you want an offensive coach. You had an older guy, you want a younger guy. The right guy is the right guy. It doesn’t matter what he’s known for. The right guy is the right guy, and we’ll vet that out. Hopefully, we’ll get that going in the right direction soon.”
