Josh Giddey Settling Into His Role After Slow Start
USA TODAY Sports

It took a few months, but Josh Giddey is starting to figure out how he fits into Oklahoma City's operation. He's not trying too hard to score and he's not forcing tough passes on the offensive end. He's back to making an impact, which is crucial to the Thunder's immediate ceiling.

Over the first two months of the season, Giddey seemed lost on both ends of the floor. He was trying to force his way back into the scoring column and was nearly unplayable at the end of the game. He regularly sat out in the fourth quarter and never looked comfortable on the floor.

Over the last 10 games, though, he looks much more comfortable. His percentages are starting to rise, too. He's averaging 12.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.6 assists in the last 10 contests, while recording just 2.0 turnovers a game. Giddey is shooting 55.7% from the floor, 44.4% from 3-point range and 83.3% from the free throw line. His efficiency has improved by leaps and bounds.

On the season, Giddey's percentages are up to 46.4% from the floor and 37.2% from beyond the 3-point line. It's important to note that his long range percentages have improved every single season in the NBA. Team's started the season by leaving him wide open from behind the line, but it's getting harder and harder to do that.

He seems to be settling into his role as a connector and finding slashers on backdoor cuts. His inbound passing is still elite, and he's taking care of the ball at a much higher clip.

His size and rebounding has also helped the Thunder as of late. He's more aggressive on the offensive glass and is making every possession count.

It still might not be a dream fit, but it's looking better and better. Mark Daigneault is committed to letting him play through struggles and find his role, and it's paying off.
