LeBron James thanks Barack Obama, Tom Brady for best wishes after winning title

LeBron James received some shout-outs from some pretty big names after leading the Los Angeles Lakers to the franchise’s 17th title, and the superstar took to Twitter on Tuesday to thank two of them.

Among the well-wishers who congratulated James on securing the fourth championship of his career were longtime friend Barack Obama and Tom Brady, who boasts an even more decorated postseason résumé than the Lakers star.

The latter’s congratulatory post even included a dig at himself over how he appeared to lose track of downs on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ final drive in last Thursday’s loss to the Chicago Bears.

Obama, on the other hand, passed along the kind of refined and dignified message befitting a former president.

Interestingly enough, James also made news this week involving Michelle Obama, whom he is partnering with on an initiative to generate enthusiasm about voting ahead of the Nov. 3 election.

It also merits noting that James has been quite active on social media following the Lakers’ Finals-clinching Game 6 victory over the Miami Heat on Sunday. In one dispatch, James took a victory lap after winning a fourth NBA Finals MVP Award along with a fourth ring.

The post, a defiant message to his haters and critics, has generated nearly 40,000 comments and over 3,000,000 likes since James originally shared it Monday evening.
