Los Angeles Lakers: Dwight Howard Makes Hilarious Appeal to Jeanie Buss After Disappointing 2024 Season
Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers are desperate to right the ship to their roster after their first-round exit at the hands of the Denver Nuggets exposed the many problems that prevented their team from matching their exploits in the 2023 playoffs.

The Lakers are reportedly even considering getting one of LeBron James’ former coaches to keep one of the league’s most talented veterans with the Purple and Gold. However, everyone understands that the roster also needs a major overhaul for them to make a deep playoff run.

Dwight Howard believes that he’s one of the likely solutions to the Lakers’ dilemma. The center, who is currently out of the league, made an interesting appeal to Lakers owner Jeanie Buss as he attempts to gain a third stint with the storied franchise.

Dwight Howard serenades Jeanie Buss to get another chance with the Los Angeles Lakers

Howard, who is going to be 39 by the end of the year, has still not given up hope on making a return to the NBA. After seeing the Lakers struggle with dealing with Nikola Jokic in the first round, he made a direct appeal to Jeanie Buss about getting another shot at donning the Purple and Gold.

It’s a hilarious moment that shows Dwight’s signature humor, and Jeanie would have probably chuckled at the appeal.

However, it’s unlikely that Howard would get another shot at making the Lakers roster. While he did help the Lakers win a ring in the NBA bubble, his final year with LA didn’t pan out well. In his final year with the team, he averaged 6.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.6 blocks.

Moreover, his athletics is all but gone at this point. It’s hard to imagine him being able to keep up with the best big men in the league when his explosive athleticism has all but left.

It’s not like the Los Angeles Lakers have any better options at center, though. If they don’t manage to find a capable big man who can take up space, maybe Howard is the answer for their problems.
