The Chicago Bears’ decimated defense, specifically the secondary, got some positive news today. In his meeting with the media , head coach Matt Nagy stated cornerback Duke Shelley is returning from the COVID-19 protocol.
Shelley initially returned on Dec. 16 after spending a few weeks away due to injury. A day passed and the Bears placed Shelley on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
He missed Monday night’s game against the Vikings when the Bears were without their entire secondary.
The Bears brought up a slew of players before the game last night. The secondary performed but it was still a clear weakness against Minnesota. Now that Shelley is returning from COVID-19, the defense can get themselves whole again.
Chicago’s next matchup comes against a Seattle team that is struggling as well. They play in the 3 o’clock window on Sunday, Dec. 26. The Bears can potentially get more players back for their defense before then.
