Bijan, London Make Falcons History in Loss at Bears

The Atlanta Falcons' offense continued struggling with consistency, falling 37-17 to the Chicago Bears on Sunday inside Soldier Field.

But two of the Falcons' brightest young stars showed up, as running back Bijan Robinson and receiver Drake London each had productive outings - and played their way into franchise history.

Robinson took 15 carries for 75 yards and caught three passes for 11 yards, finishing with 86 yards from scrimmage.

Drafted No. 8 overall in April's draft, Robinson now holds 1,332 total yards this season - tied with William Andrews for most scrimmage yards by a rookie in Falcons history.

There's still a chance for the 21-year-old to break another record.

Robinson has 948 rushing yards on the season, putting him 88 yards away from breaking topping Tyler Allgeier's franchise-record 1,035 rushing yards by a rookie, set last year.

The Tuscon, Arizona, native has rushed for 88 yards or more on four occasions this season, most recently in Atlanta's last matchup with New Orleans, a 24-15 Falcons victory on Nov. 26.

As such, Robinson has a legitimate opportunity to continue making history - much like London did Sunday.

With four receptions for 56 yards, London now has 137 career receptions, breaking Julio Jones' franchise record of 133 for most catches by a player in his first two seasons.

Furthermore, London stands with 1,730 receiving yards, passing Calvin Ridley (1,687) and Bert Emanuel (1,688) for No. 2 on the franchise's all-time list of receiving yards through a player’s first two seasons. Jones owns the top mark with 2,157 yards.

For the season, London's made 65 catches for 864 yards and two touchdowns. He's 136 yards away from becoming the 15th player in franchise history to reach 1,000 receiving yards in a season.

London needs eight receptions to best his rookie-record 72 catches from last season, but only three yards to top his 866 receiving yards as a rookie.

Like Robinson, the 22-year-old London was drafted No. 8 overall, and through two years, he's produced at a level worthy of such a selection.

The Falcons have endured a difficult campaign, sitting at 7-9 entering Sunday's season finale against the Saints ... and still have a chance to either win the NFC South for the first time in seven years or hold the No. 8 overall pick for the third consecutive year.

And regardless of what happens when Atlanta and New Orleans (8-8) kick off at 1 p.m. EST inside Caesars Superdome, Robinson and London should be at the forefront ... all the while inching closer to making more history.
