Cordarrelle Patterson hopes Falcons will bring Roquan Smith back to Georgia

The press followed up with Patterson the day after that Tweet went out, and he tried to say that he wasn't the one to send it. 

He was asked "what's up" with Smith.

"What's up with him?" Patterson asked in return, with a chuckle. 

"I don't even control my own Twitter. Somebody got my Twitter account," Patterson explained as the media heckled him, clearly not believing a word he said.

After another chuckle, Patterson did give his thoughts on the talented linebacker who he knows well thanks to their mutual time together with the Bears.

"I played with Roquan for two years, he's a monster," Patterson said. "He's from Georgia, he played [at] Georgia, so I'll always vouch for that guy to come here."

"Hard working kid. He deserves whatever he's asking for. Of course, I want him here. If we got the money, I hope [team owner] Arthur [Blank] and [general manager] Terry [Fontenot] figure it out and get that guy."

It's worth noting that money seems to be the concern here for Smith because he did admit that he wanted to be with Chicago for his entire career.

"The new front office regime doesn't value me here," Smith said in a statement, though, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. "They've refused to negotiate in good faith, every step of this journey has been 'take it or leave it'. The deal sent to me is one that would be bad for myself, and for the entire LB market if I signed it. I've been trying to get something done that's fair since April, but their focus has been on trying to take advantage of me."

"I wanted to be a Bear for my entire career, help this team bring a (Super Bowl) back to our city. However, they have left me no choice than to request a trade that allows me to play for an organization that truly values what I bring to the table."

Perhaps that organization is Atlanta.
