DeAngelo Hall lands spot on Carolina Panthers coaching staff

DeAngelo Hall inspired a generation of defensive backs during his 14-year NFL career. Now, Hall will look to relay his knowledge as a coach. The Carolina Panthers announced Saturday the team hired Hall as their assistant defensive backs coach.

After starring in college at Virginia Tech, the Chesapeake, Virginia native got selected eighth overall in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. Hall played four seasons in Atlanta before being traded to the Oakland Raiders to finish the 2008 season.

Hall then spent the last ten years of his career with the Washington franchise. He had 43 career interceptions before retiring after the 2017 season. He made the Pro Bowl three times and tied an NFL record with four interceptions in a single game.

Hall moved into media after hanging up his cleats. He worked with NBC Sports Washington as an analyst before moving on to FS1. Then Hall joined the NFL Network in 2019. Then, in 2020 he joined the Washington Commanders’ gameday radio broadcast. Hall was replaced by London Fletcher before the 2022 season.

Since being named the Panthers head coach earlier this month, Frank Reich has assembled an impressive coaching staff. In addition to DeAngelo Hall, Reich’s new staff includes Thomas Brown, Duce Staley, former NFL head coach Jim Caldwell, Shawn Jefferson, Josh McCown, Ejiro Evero, and Todd Walsh.
