Falcons coach called draft prospect boring in predraft interview

It is not uncommon to hear about awkward interviews and questions during the predraft process in the NFL, and Tennessee Titans first-round pick Peter Skoronski shared a bizarre story of his experience when he was interviewed by the Atlanta Falcons.

Basically, Falcons head coach Arthur Smith thought Skoronski was boring.

As he directly told him to his face.

Skoronski broke down his predraft process with the Athletic's Dan Pompei, and after explaining how he really enjoyed his time with Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin and Titans coach Mike Vrabel he shared this anecdote about Smith.

“The head coach was on me the second I got in there,” Skoronski says of Arthur Smith. “I was giving them generic answers to their questions, and he said, ‘You’re really boring me right now. Your answers are so boring.’ The whole meeting, he kept looking at his computer. I was kind of laughing to myself and said, ‘Sorry, I don’t know what you want me to do. I’m answering you honestly.’”

Whether or not Smith actually thought Skoronski was boring, or if he was just trying to incite a reaction out of him, is known only to Smith, but it seems logical that it was probably the latter.

A lot of those predraft interviews or built around that very mindset, which is how you get some of the controversial (and sometimes disturbing) questions that get asked.

The Falcons ended up passing on Skoronski with the No. 7 overall pick and using their first selection on running back Bijan Robinson from Texas.

Skoronski was picked by the Titans with the 11th overall pick in the draft.

He was projected to be one of the best offensive lineman in the class and was the second tackle picked after Paris Johnson Jr. went to the Arizona Cardinals.
