GM Schneider Reveals Why Seahawks Job is 'Attractive'

The Seattle Seahawks officially begin their search for a new head coach today after Pete Carroll's 14-year tenure came to an end last week when he mutually agreed to part ways with the team.

The Seahawks are now searching for a coach for the first time since 2010, the same year John Schneider joined the team as general manager.

Now, Schneider leads the charge for leadership beyond Carroll, but he believes the job is one of the best current vacancies in the NFL.

“I think it’s a young, talented team that feels like they’re right on the cusp,” Schneider said. “I think there’s a lot of guys who have a ton of confidence in their abilities. They’re all highly disappointed in what just happened, and I think, to a man, they would all tell you—and I know this from the exit interviews that I had—that we still should be playing. Everyone was very disappointed. But I think it’s a great core, I think we’re a very attractive job because of that. There’s young talent all over the place.”

Part of the Seahawks' young core has been bolstered thanks to drafting players like Kenneth Walker III, Devon Witherspoon, Boye Mafe and Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the past two years ... part of which was gained thanks to the Russell Wilson trade in 2022.

Geno Smith is currently the quarterback, but after completing his age-33 season, there's reason to believe the next coach will usher in a new quarterback some time during their tenure.

With a combination of a young roster on the rise and a team that can realistically make the playoffs next season, prospective coaches should be thrilled at the opportunity the Seahawks present.
