HC Zac Taylor reveals Bengals' plans for QB Joe Burrow

The Bengals offense has underwhelmed to start the season as QB Joe Burrow is clearly not healthy after reaggravating his calf injury in Week 2. Head coach Zac Taylor revealed the team's plans for the injured quarterback.

Taylor told reporters that Burrow will start in Week 5 against the Cardinals (1-3) and believes he is healthy enough to run the offense, which ranks as the worst in total yards per game (236) and second-worst in points per game (12.3) through the first four weeks of the season.

Cincinnati has also scored a total of just three offensive touchdowns, the fewest of any team in the NFL, per ESPN's Field Yates.

It seems like the question is whether the Bengals (1-3) can afford to rest Burrow, sitting in last place in the AFC North.

It may sound like a stupid question as Burrow has been one of the top quarterbacks in the league the last couple of years, but he is off to a historically bad start in 2023.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, Burrow is the first quarterback in NFL history to attempt at least 150 passes in his team's first four games of a season and average fewer than five yards per attempt on those passes.

The fourth-year quarterback has thrown for just 728 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions through four games.

However, Burrow said he "felt good" after not having any setbacks in Week 3 and has shown no signs of wanting to sit out either.

"There is risk to go out there and potentially reinjure it, but there's also a risk to go out there and be 0-3," Burrow said after the team's Week 3 win over the Rams. "So I wanted to be out there for my guys, and I was confident I was going to be able to do what I needed to do to get the win."

The Bengals could opt to sit Burrow for the next two weeks with their bye week following. But it looks like Cincinnati is all in on Burrow as it hopes he and the offense can find a rhythm sooner than later.
