Jaguars vs. Texans Injury Update: Zay Jones (Knee) Misses Thursday's Practice
USA TODAY Sports

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones didn't practice for the second day in a row due to a knee injury, casting doubt on his availability for Week 3.

Jones, who is in his second year with the franchise, missed one game with injury last season.

Also not practicing for the Jaguars on Thursday was safety Antonio Johnson (hamstring), while Josh Allen (shoulder), Andrew Wingard (shoulder), and Foley Fatukasi (shoulder) were all limited.

Jones has five catches on 13 targets for 55 yards and a touchdown in two starts this season, though Week 2 was the first time in his Jaguars career that he didn't record a reception.

If Jones can't play vs. the Houston Texans on Sunday, the Jaguars will likely turn to third-year receiver Tim Jones.

“There’s a possibility, we’re fortunate in that we have versatile pieces. We have guys like Tim [Jones], guys like Ag [WR Jamal Agnew] that provide different elements," Jaguars offensive coordinator Press Taylor said. "With our tight end room, being able to mix and match 12-team personnel and 13-team personnel to give us some of the elements we get.

"From a coaching staff perspective, it’s certainly easier to know early on if a guy is playing or not, if it’s a guy that ends up being a gametime decision or something happens on gameday, that’s where it gets tough to mix and match and change your gameplan as you go. We’re doing everything we can to communicate with the training staff to get a feel for where Zay is and what we expect out of him. We’ll be able to massage our plan either way.”
