Jets QB Zach Wilson deleting social media apps ahead of 2022 NFL season

New York Jets second-year quarterback Zach Wilson endured quite a rocky rookie season but recently had his name in headlines for much different reasons after an ex-girlfriend claimed he allegedly cheated on her with one of his mother's friends.

Wilson was eventually able to joke about becoming somewhat of a viral sensation ahead of his second career pro training camp via an Instagram post but has since decided to concentrate more on the tasks at hand moving forward.

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com (h/t Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk), Wilson confirmed to reporters on Tuesday that he is deleting his social media apps ahead of the upcoming campaign.

"For me, it just comes down to limiting what voices I really need to hear and, right now, it’s here, hearing what my coaches have to say, what the other QBs have to say, and what my teammates are thinking on every single play," the 22-year-old explained. "Even parents sometimes can be a distraction."

Per ESPN stats, Wilson ended his debut NFL season 31st among eligible signal-callers with a 69.7 passer rating and 30th with a 28.2 total QBR. He completed just 55.6% of his attempts for 2,334 yards with nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions across 13 games.
