Mike Williams compares Jets WR Garrett Wilson to Keenan Allen

Williams, 29, signed with the Jets after spending seven seasons with the Chargers. During his time in Los Angeles, Williams caught 309 passes for 4,806 yards and 31 touchdowns. He played alongside Allen during his entire time with the Chargers, but like Williams, Allen is no longer a member of the Jets as he was traded to the Chicago Bears.

The Jets are hoping to make some noise in 2024 after a challenging 2023 season which included the team losing Aaron Rodgers to an Achilles injury. While speaking to reporters, Wilson talked about working with the four-time NFL MVP quarterback.

“I felt like the whole place overall was a great fit for me,” Williams said. “I wanted to be able to play with Rodgers and pick his brain and learn from him. I feel like we can complement the running game really well, which is also pretty good. The whole team has really great opportunity ahead of it.”

Rodgers should be 100 percent healthy when the Jets start offseason workouts next month. This will give Williams and Rodgers time to work on chemistry and timing with Wilson who caught 95 passes for 1,042 yards and three touchdowns last season.

Jets coach Robert Saleh is excited to have Williams on the squad. “He’s a dynamic receiver,” Saleh said during the NFL league meetings on Monday. “We’ve been a big fan of his for a while. You say 50/50 ball, but it’s more 70/30 when it goes up to him. He’s a dynamic athlete, dynamic receiver, very confident when he goes up and gets the ball. To be that complement to Garrett [Wilson] and the rest of the receiving room, to the receiver room will be a good deal.”
