At present, the Jets have Aaron Rodgers slated as their starter, with Tyrod Taylor in the backup role. Zach Wilson remains on the roster, but his future with the team beyond this season appears uncertain. This leaves the Jets with two seasoned quarterbacks but lacking a long-term solution.
Travis showcased his talent during the 2023 season at Florida State until sidelined by injury. He boasted an impressive 20 touchdowns to 2 interceptions ratio, completing 63.9% of his passes for 2,756 yards.
Notably, Travis also made significant contributions in the rushing department, setting a record as the only player in FSU history to achieve seven rushing touchdowns in four consecutive seasons, accumulating a total of 1,950 rushing yards over six seasons.
At 23 years old, Travis will turn 24 before the start of the 2024 NFL season. Despite his promising prospects, a leg injury during his final college season likely contributed to Travis’s projected draft position. NFL Draft Buzz lists him as a “third-round pick,” potentially presenting the New York Jets with an opportunity to secure a valuable asset at the quarterback position.
While the Jets hold the No. 72 overall pick in the third round, it may be a stretch to select Travis as their third-string quarterback. However, considering their two fourth-round selections, Travis could be a viable option for the Jets to consider.
