The Green Bay Packers have added another defensive back to their 53-man roster. On Monday, the team claimed Kyu Blu Kelly off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks.
On a corresponding move, the Packers waived safety Innis Gaines, who had been signed to the 53-man roster on Saturday.
Kyu Blu Kelly is a rookie who came out of Stanford. He was a fifth-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens, but didn't make the initial 53-man roster. He was claimed by the Seahawks in August, and waived last Saturday.
He appeared in five games for Seattle, but only as a special teamer. He played 38 total snaps, 29% of the Seahawks special teams snaps.
With Eric Stokes on the injured reserve, the Packers have six cornerbacks on the 53-man roster: Jaire Alexander, Carrington Valentine, Keisean Nixon, Corey Ballentine, and Robert Rochell, besides Kelly. Zyon Gilbert, Anthony Johnson are on the practice squad.
At safety, the options are Rudy Ford, Jonathan Owens, Anthony Johnson Jr., Dallin Leavitt, and Zayne Anderson. Darnell Savage is on IR. Undrafted rookie Benny Sapp III is on the PS.
