Raiders GM shuts down Davante Adams trade rumors with three words

Even though Davante Adams keeps popping up in trade rumors, Las Vegas Raiders general manager Tom Telesco clarified that he's not going anywhere.

"He's a Raider," Telesco said of the star wide receiver Tuesday at the scouting combine in Indianapolis, via NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.

The Raiders traded for the former Green Bay Packer in 2022, but they've missed the playoffs for two straight seasons, leading to speculation about his future in Las Vegas.

The Jets tried to acquire him before the trade deadline, reuniting Adams and former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Raiders rejected their offer, but ESPN's Rich Cimini reported the Jets would try again this offseason.

However, the Raiders named Antonio Pierce as head coach, which should give the 31-year-old optimism. Las Vegas went 5-4 under Pierce after he replaced Josh McDaniels.

They recently hired Luke Getsy as their offensive coordinator. He coached Adams in Green Bay, where he served as an offensive assistant for seven seasons.

"Open-mindedness and, like I said, that innovation to the offense and a good run-pass balance," Adams said of Getsy, per ESPN's Paul Gutierrez. "And that's what I'm used to, that West Coast style. Going to be fun getting to work on a new system, [yet] something that's a little bit more familiar."

The Raiders still need a franchise QB. They're expected to cut Jimmy Garoppolo in March, and Aidan O'Connell logged a below-average 40.5 QBR in 11 games during his rookie season.

Las Vegas has the 13th overall pick in the draft, but it should try to move up and select an elite prospect, such as LSU's Jayden Daniels or North Carolina's Drake Maye. The Raiders could also sign a free agent, like Pro Bowler Baker Mayfield.

Improved QB play will help Adams bounce back after an underwhelming season. In 17 games in 2023, he had eight receiving TDs, his lowest figure since 2019.
