Zack Moss Doesn’t Hold Back On New Role With Bengals
Jenna Watson-USA TODAY Sports

Zack Moss has officially joined the Cincinnati Bengals after signing with the team in free agency, and while he understands he won’t be the focal point of the offense, he is ready to contribute in any way he can.

“I’ve been in a pass-happy offense before and in that role you just kind of find out ways where you can help the team,” Moss said, via Geoff Hobson of the Bengals’ official team website.

Cincinnati’s offense is certainly centered around the aerial attack with Joe Burrow under center and Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins representing the club’s top two wide receivers.

But that’s okay to Moss. He knows how to adjust.

“When I was in Buffalo, that was, okay, how can I be a better pass blocker? And that helped prepare me for each and every step that I’ve gone to and it’s helped me out as a back throughout the years,” Moss said. “Here, these guys do a great job and when you have the talent like that outside, it makes sense. However I can help this team. Of it’s catching the ball, running the ball, trying to keep Joe [Burrow] clean as much as I can with the big guys up front, whatever my role is being called of that week, that’s what I’m going to try and do.”

Moss is coming off of a 2023 campaign with the Indianapolis Colts in which he rushed for 794 yards and five touchdowns while averaging 4.3 yards per carry. He added 27 catches for 192 yards and a couple of scores.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Utah, was originally selected by the Buffalo Bills in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He spent the first two-and-a-half years of his career with the Bills, posting mostly underwhelming results before being traded to the Colts midway through the 2022 season.

Moss began last year as Indianapolis’ featured running back, as Jonathan Taylor was recovering from an injury. He put together some impressive performances with Taylor sidelined, which certainly increased his value heading into free agency.

We’ll see what Zack Moss can do with the Bengals in 2024.
