Inter Milan are looking to build a squad that hosts two players for every playing role. However, there could be an exception.

As Sport Mediaset (via FcInter1908) explains, the management is adamant about securing Simone Inzaghi’s services with a new contract valid until 2027.

Club captain Lautaro Martinez and vice-captain Nicolo Barella should also pen new deals until 2029.

Afterwards, Giuseppe Marotta, Piero Ausilio and company will start working on next season’s squad.

The Nerazzurri have already secured the services of Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski. The two players will sign as free agents in July when their respective contracts with Porto and Napoli expire.

As the source reveals, Inzaghi and the hierarchy are aiming to have two options vying for each starting role.

However, the report believes the attacking department could be the exception.

The Serie A champions play with two strikers, so they would need at least four attackers in their squad, as is the case this season.

Nevertheless, Sport Mediaset expects Inter’s squad to feature five forwards next term.

Inter Milan Squad To Host Five Strikers Next Season

Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram and Marko Arnautovic will likely stay unless the club receives an important offer for any of them. On the other hand, Alexis Sanchez is tipped to leave once his contract expires.

But in addition to Taremi’s arrival, there could be another addition in the shape of a returning Joaquin Correa, as the source explains.

The Argentine is spending the current campaign on loan at Marseille. The Ligue 1 side will have the obligation to buy him for 10 million euros in case they qualify for the Champions League next season.

This could ensue in case the French club ends up winning the Europa League.

Otherwise, OM will send Correa back to Appiano Gentile following a disappointing campaign in France.

In this case, Inzaghi could consider his old Lazio pupil an additional striker in his ranks.
