Brooks Jensen has issued a statement regarding the fan outcry over him wearing an Ole Anderson shirt on WWE NXT.
On last week’s episode of NXT, Brooks Jensen wore a t-shirt of Ole Anderson, who passed away last month. This shirt turned into a hot topic online due to allegations of Anderson being a racist in recent years.
The NXT Superstar took to social media to respond to the criticisms towards him and apologized for it, tweeting out:
“I will never support any racism, hate, or bullying. While I respected Ole for his wrestling it was news to me after wearing the tshirt that he was associated with these allegation’s. I’ve noticed my ‘looks’ and where I’m from are frequently stigmatized with the underbelly of our society (i.e. racists) but this mullet just likes to give love and party. My apologies to anyone who knew the allegations prior and were offended by the shirt. I’m learning and this was noted,” Brooks Jensen said in his post.
Hours later, Jensen posted a follow-up message stating that he was taking a break from social media for the time being.
Guys after everything that has happened I’m gonna take a break from social media. Just gotta think on some stuff… Thank you for the love and support #WWENXT
